I studied illustration at the University of Buffalo. Then I learned to design and integrate websites when I was laid off from my first full-time job illustrating for educational CDs. Then I saw a book cover illustration by John Jude Palencar and realized I had to pursue illustration again before it was too late, so I quit my job. I'm still designing websites, but I'm also still drawing.

UPDATE

As of March 31, 2011, I am working full-time again. Freelancing was good while it lasted, but times they are a changin' and the full-time gig is a great help. So now I'm designing and integrating websites - mostly integrating.

So it looks like the freelancing life is behind me.  As of March 31 I am full employed developing websites.  Had anyone asked me last summer if I would be working full-time again in the spring I would have said no.  But one thing leads to another and I had an opportunity that seemed wise to take.  It's been an adjustment, but so far, so good.
